Spring 2010
Welcome to Spring, 2010! Finally, the weather
has improved from the harsh
winter!
The Chamber has made many strides in the last four years reaching out to
the business community. We have developed new strategies for vacant stores
to become occupied. The Business Enhancement Committee of the Great Neck
Chamber of Commerce has met with Village Officials, Town and County
Representatives and has really gotten them to listen and assist our business
community. We look forward to the results very shortly.
Our next Annual Awards Dinner will be held at the United States Merchant
Marine Academy on Wednesday, April 28th at 6:30 pm. The admission is
$85.00 per person and this will be a really great evening. This year we are
going to completely change the theme of the dinner. It will be a “nightclub
setting” and we will be featuring a well known comedian. We are especially
proud of our honorees:
The Jesse M. Markel Community Achievement Award -
Sabina Miller, Past President, Lions Club
The Robert E. Freedman Retailer Award -
Richard & Barbara Lazar, Lazar’s Chocolate, Inc.
The Robert E. Freedman Retailer Award -
Vincent Primozic & Vlado Fable, Bevanda Restaurant
Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce
“Business Person of the Year” Award -
Mark Birnbaum, Attorney at Law
This will truly be an “evening to remember” and hope all of you can attend.
In conclusion, looking towards the future. The Chamber sponsors a
breakfast on the third Thursday of each month. We have many interesting
speakers and will continue to engage speakers that directly affect our
businesses. If you have any ideas regarding speakers or programs, we
would
love to hear from you. It is our job to please our members. I can be
reached at
valerielink@greatneckchamber.org and please
feel free to e-mail
me at anytime. All of your e-mails will be answered. Wishing you all a great
year and look forward to working with all of you in the future.
