Fall 2008
Now that we are nearing the end of 2008, I would like to mention some of the current issues and activities we
are working on. We arranged and met with elected officials, including New
York State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Nassau County Legislator Judy
Bosworth, North Hempstead Councilwomen Lee Seeman and Kitty Poons, Village
of Great Neck Mayor Ralph Kreitzman and Officers of the Chamber. This
meeting addressed the issues relating to enhancing the business environment
and attracting new businesses to the Great Neck peninsula. We expect to meet
on a regular basis to discuss our vision, develop a plan, obtain funding and
implement the plan.
We are planning an exciting awards dinner to be held on Wednesday,
January 28, 2009 with highly respected honorees that have contributed above
and beyond to the Great Neck community. We will be publishing a dinner
journal and hope that all of you will participate by taking an ad. Check the
Chamber web site, greatneckchamber.org for additional details and to make
reservations.
On June 1, 2009 we will bring back the ever popular “Taste of Great Neck,”
at $45.00 per person. Please make your reservations early as we had to turn
away people last time.
As a Chamber member in good standing, we are offering our members
the opportunity to post on the Chamber web site their events, employment
opportunities, rental space availability and other items they deem important
to the local community.
We have a Chamber breakfast on the third Thursday of every month, with many
exciting speakers. We also are planning a Giraffe Award Breakfast on October
16th. There is always an opportunity for you to network at our breakfasts
and I hope to see you all there.
Since our last “speed networking” event was so popular, we are planning
another one in the Spring of 2009. If you are interested in sponsoring a
table,
please contact me at
vlink@greatneckchamber.org. We look forward to having another
great event. Your ideas are very important to me so please feel free to
contact me at any time at the above email address.
