Spring 2009
We started off the New Year with renewed
energy! We had a very successful Annual Awards Dinner held on January 28th
with a large crowd in attendance, including many of our elected officials.
We had a superb group of honorees and the whole evening was a huge success
and enjoyed by all.
We have completed our Committees and have already commenced work for the
coming year. Our Business Enhancement Committee has been meeting with local
officials, the Town and the County, to continue its mission to prepare a
plan for the business corridor in Great Neck. We have made strides in hiring
an architect, obtaining a survey and formulating our vision of what we
intend to accomplish. This is an ongoing project, but it will not happen
overnight. Shortly, we will see our vision come together and all of the
commercial areas in Great Neck will come together.
We are planning the ever-popular “Taste of Great Neck” for June lst, hosted
by the USMMA in Kings Point, and we are also planning a “Networking” event
for the fall. You can check our website for upcoming events. Please try not
to miss our Chamber Breakfasts on the third Thursday of each month hosted by
the Inn at Great Neck at 8 am. Our breakfasts are informative and should not
be missed! We have updates by our elected officials and speakers on business
related issues. We send out notices and e-mails, and you can always check
our website. We have some new businesses opening up in Great Neck and these
businesses are sure to bring increased activity to Great Neck.
Raindew will be opening in the space previously occupied by CVS and West
Coast Video. CVS has relocated to newly renovated and larger premises in the
location previously occupied by the Food Emporium. We offer to our members
the opportunity to post job openings, events, etc. on our website. Please
e-mail us the information.
I welcome all your ideas. Please feel free to
